Below is some information that you can use before selecting and ordering your custom logo mats from Direct Mat.

Types of Fibers Used in Logo Matting

  1. Needlepunch Polypropylene- The most durable fiber used in matting, polypropylene is an excellent candidate for outdoor mats and mats that are wider than 6’.
  1. Nylon Carpet- Similar to carpet in a home, Nylon is used because it can be dyed and looks and feels the best of mats available.
  1. Olefin- This fiber is used because it can be used outside and can be made to look similar to nylon carpet.
  1. Polyester- Polyester is used mainly for dye sublimation matting because its properties created the brightest image.
  1. Coir (Coconut Fiber)- Coir is a natural fiber made from coconut husks The preparation of coir is a lengthy process. The coconut husk is immersed in water for about a month until it is rubbery in texture. It is then tufted or woven into matting.

Graphic Methods Description for Logo Mats

  1. Inlaid- The most durable method of all logo mats. Often referred to as a “cookie cutter” method, inlaid logos create clean lines and sharp durable logos for long lasting mats. Mats can be made as large as 13’ x 75’ in sizes down to the inch. This type of logo floor mat is often used for outdoor applications, recessed wells or rugs.
  1. Jet Print- Using the same technology as an ink jet printer, jet printing uses computer controlled printing. Dye is permanent and deeply injected into the mat. This method can imprint virtually any design into a logo mat. Choose over 135 colors per mat.
  1. Flocking- Electrostatic Flocking is used to place your graphic on the surface of a wide variety of mats. Adhesive is applied through a specially created design screen to penetrate the mats fiber surface. A nylon flock is applied to the adhesive as the mat moves through a charged electrostatic field. This process induces the flock to stand up as it enters the adhesive layer, creating a bold appearance. The mat is heat cured to fuse the flock design to the surface.
  1. Dye Sublimation- Produce vivid color and graphics with this process. Used largely for promotional products, this dynamic logo matting process is finding uses in applications where near photo quality images are required. Often referred to as “heat transfer” method.
  1. Graphic Tufting- Using computers, text or logos are tufted or ”stitched” into the mat, before a backing is applied.
  1. Direct Print- Using a 15’ wide printer, special inks are directly printed onto a white loop carpet for amazing large format images. Perfect for trade shows.
